Buying groups explained

How buying groups work

Clinics team up to buy one product in volume. The more units the group orders, the lower the price for everyone in it. You save against our regular price, and in return you wait for the group to close and the manufacturer to ship.

In six steps

  1. Join and pay a deposit.Choose a quantity, accept the Buying Group Terms and pay a deposit by card or digital wallet.
  2. Free period.Until the lock starts you can add, reduce or withdraw in your portal. Withdraw and your deposit is refunded in full.
  3. Lock.In the last 72 hours before close (the group page shows the exact time) you can add units, but not reduce or withdraw. From here the price can only stay the same or go down.
  4. Close. The group closes at the time on the group page (Eastern Time). We confirm the final price and order from the manufacturer.
  5. Invoice and balance. You get an invoice for the balance. It is collected by pre-authorised debit (PAD) unless you choose card, or cheque/EFT where offered.
  6. Delivery. We deliver to your clinic once the balance is paid, around the date shown on the group page.

The price ladder

  • Each group has a ladder of price steps. When the group's total reaches the next step, the price drops for everyone.
  • Your final price is the lower of the price when the lock started and the price of the step reached at close. After close, the price never goes up.
  • Everyone pays the same final price per unit, less any early-bird discount they earned.
  • During the free period other clinics can also leave, so the price can go up as well as down. It never goes above the first step.
  • Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus HST.
  • "Save X % vs our regular price" compares the group price with the price at which we sell the same product for immediate delivery in our webshop.

FAQ

How much is the deposit?
10 % of your order value at the current price for a new clinic, or 5 % for a trusted clinic: one that has paid a WizeDirect invoice in the last 24 months, or that we have marked as trusted. The group page shows the rate that applies to you. The deposit is at least C$25, but never more than your order value and never more than any maximum shown on the group page. The deposit has no HST; HST is charged on the final invoice and the deposit is credited against it.
What is the early bird?
Pay your deposit before the early-bird date on the group page and you get the early-bird discount on the units committed by then. It is a date, not a race: everyone who pays by the date gets it. Some groups cap it per clinic; the group page says so. If your clinic has a lower contract price, you pay the lower of the two; discounts are not combined.
When will it be delivered?
The group page shows an estimate: "delivered around" a date. It depends on the manufacturer. If the date moves more than 14 days later before your order ships, you may leave with a full refund. If you need the product now, buy it from stock in the webshop at the regular price.
What if the group doesn't reach its target?
  • We may extend the close date. An extension reopens the free period, so you can leave free of charge until the new lock.
  • If the group ends below target but above its minimum, we may go ahead at the price reached. We email you and you have 48 hours to leave with a full refund. If you don't reply, your order goes ahead.
  • If the group is below its minimum, or the manufacturer's minimum isn't met, we may cancel it and refund every deposit in full.
  • We may buy missing units ourselves to reach a step. That can only lower your price, never raise it.
When do I get a full refund?
If we cancel the group; if you withdraw in the free period or leave in the exit window; if we change the group against you after you commit (different product or variant, delivery more than 14 days later, or a new fee); if your clinic isn't approved in time; or if supply ran out before your deposit went through. Refunds go back to the original payment method, normally within 5–10 business days.
What does delivery cost?
Free when your order in the group is C$300 or more before HST. Below that, C$25 plus HST. The group page shows the rule before you join.
How is the balance paid?
By pre-authorised debit from your clinic's bank account by default, because it costs least. You can choose card, or cheque/EFT where offered. We debit no earlier than 2 business days after we email your invoice, and the email tells you the amount and the date. If a payment fails, we email you a payment link. If a debit is returned for insufficient funds, we retry it once, 3 days later. If it is still unpaid 7 days after that, we may cancel your order and keep the deposit.
Can I return a group order?
Not for change of mind: group orders are bought specially. Defective, damaged or wrong items are replaced or refunded. Report them within 5 business days of delivery.
Can my clinic join before it is approved?
Yes. You can commit and pay a deposit while we review your clinic. If we can't approve it before the group is confirmed, your commitment is removed and your deposit refunded in full.
Can a group include several products?
No. A group is for one product. It may come in variants, such as sizes, which all count toward the same group total.
Who can join?
Dental and medical clinics buying for professional use. Self-serve checkout is open to clinics in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. Clinics elsewhere can contact us.
Why can't I see prices?
Sign in to see prices. Unless the group page shows them, visitors who are not signed in see the saving in %, the progress and the countdown.
